CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY TO THE DUNDAS
Santa’s making a welcome return to Middlesbrough’s historic Dundas Indoor Market on Sunday.
During his first visit nearly 100 lucky children were able to share their Christmas wishes with him.
The good news is that Santa will be back in the market from 12 until 3pm and Dundas will be staging its special festive market as well. It runs from Friday until Sunday.
Sunday also sees the Magical Middlesbrough Parade through the centre of Middlesbrough between 1 and 2pm.
“This is a big weekend and everybody’s looking forward to it,” said Market Manager David Harris.
As well as seeing Santa children can check out the market’s toy shop and sweet shop and if they are buying presents for family or friends, Toni’s Gift Boutique has got a wide range of affordable items.
Dundas is a must if children are following the Walking with The Snowman Trail with no fewer than three Snowman ready to greet them in the Mall.
Adults looking for original gift ideas should try Alta Ego and if nostalgia’s your thing check out Ray’s for the record or DVD you loved but lost. For animal lovers Leo Libra Pet Supplies will provide all you need plus expert advice.
C.A.M. Family Meats will make sure you eat well throughout the festive season with its traditional mouth-watering meat hamper. If you can’t wait that long for – and all that shopping has helped work up an appetite – Jean’s Kitchen is the place to go for an early Christmas dinner. Or you could try No 4 for a lighter snack and check out its special ideas for Christmas, while the Protein Café might give you a much needed boost to help you keep going.
Market manager David Harris said: “You can do all your Christmas shopping under one roof here at the Dundas and – as we all watch our pennies – you’ll be able to find real value for money.
“You’ll be able to buy gifts you can’t buy anywhere else and, at the same time, know you’re providing great support for your local traders.”
Even though the cost of living crisis has been looming for months the market has seen an influx of new businesses with the arrival of Toni’s Gift Boutique, The Protein Café, Bubble ‘n Sweet and Baby Beautiful.
They have joined Dundas’ well-established retailers such as Alta Ego, Leo Libra Pet Supplies and CAM Family Meats as well as the longest-running business at the market, Jean’s Kitchen, which opened more than 20 years ago.
All market traders benefit from an all-inclusive deal which means their rent covers the cost of their energy as well as business rates and broadband.
The price of a unit starts as low as £75 per week to help new tenants get their businesses up and running through the make-or-break first six months.
