Middlesbrough’s Dundas Indoor Market is staging a couple of special Saturday shows providing family entertainment during the summer school holidays.
On the 1 and 15 August Teesside the extraordinary Crazy Colin will bring his amazing skills as a magician and balloon modeller to the Market – and it’s all for free.
Colin’s popularity has spread far and wide but he still finds time to make regular appearances in his home town and last summer his show in the Dundas went down a storm.
“It’s great to welcome him back,” said Market Manager David Harris. “His shows are really fantastic and children as well as adults love what he does.”
Crazy Colin – who says growing up, his magic was inspired by the late great Paul Daniels from Redcar – will be on site from 11am – 2.30pm, putting on two 30 minute brilliant magic shows. On both days, in-between performances Colin will bring to life some stunning balloon creations of all of your favourite animals.
The Market provides free entertainment at key times throughout the year and Mr Harris believes it’s another important way of supporting his local community. “Everything costs so much these days and we know how difficult that is for very many families who live in and around Middlesbrough,” he said. “I know that’s at the forefront of the minds of all of the shops here as well – from the butcher to the toy shop. It’s all about offering real value for money.”
Following significant investment over the past couple of years, Dundas Indoor Market has seen an influx of new retailers – most recently craft and curtain shops – who trade alongside established businesses such as Picks & Sticks, which repairs musical instruments, retro fashion shop Vintage 101 and Alta Ego, affectionately described as one of Teesside’s quirkiest shops.
As well as the diverse range of products and services available within the Market, at its heart remains Jean’s Kitchen which has been serving up traditional home-cooked food for more than 35 years.
